PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning to action on Friday night at Ocean Speedway after a mechanical issue knocked him out of Civil War action one week ago, Cole Macedo continued a very impressive 2018 campaign as he would finish second in the feature event behind Bud Kaeding.

“Friday night in Watsonville, CA we had an awesome car,” Cole Macedo said. “We were one of the fastest cars every time we hit the track, and we held our own in the feature event after Bud Kaeding got passed us. Paul Baines and my Dad gave me a car that was capable of winning, but I just made a couple of mistakes early while we were leading.”

Friday night at Ocean Speedway, Macedo would open his night up by timing the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino/Elite Landscape/Tarlton and Son, Inc. machine in second quickest in qualifications.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Macedo would finish in the fifth position but with his time trial effort he would find himself in the all-important Dash. Able to pick up the Dash win, Macedo would find himself on the pole of the feature event as he chases after that elusive first feature event win.

Lining up on the pole alongside Bud Kaeding, Macedo would hammer the throttle out of turn four and would jump into the early lead with Kaeding hot on his tail. Continuing to lead the way, Macedo would bobble out of turn two on the sixth lap and it would allow Kaeding to take over the race lead.

Chasing after Kaeding, the race would have its lone stoppage occur on the ninth lap. Back underway, Macedo would continue to chase after Kaeding but would feel pressure from Justin Sanders who was working for the second position.

After a nice battle with Sanders, Macedo was able to keep him at bay as he would go on to finish second on this night and make his way on to the podium.

“It feels good to get on the podium with drivers like Bud Kaeding and Justin Sanders,” Macedo added. “We have had a ton of speed the last three weeks and I am very excited to get back to Tulare this weekend for the Peter Murphy Classic.”

The Tarlton Motorsports team would like to thank Elite Landscape Construction, Tarlton and Son, Inc., Executive Auto Sales, Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino, Pabco Gypsum, Bandy and Associates, All Star Performance, Yokut Gas, and BG Lubricants for their support through the 2018 season.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-10, Wins-0, Top 5’s-4, Top 10’s-6.

ON TAP: Macedo will return to action on Friday night in Tulare, CA as he is set to take on the Sprint Car Challenge Tour as part of the Peter Murphy Classic.
