PETERSEN MEDIA- Sitting 24th in points following Friday night’s Nor-Cal Posse opener at Placerville Speedway, Colby Copeland and the F&F Racing X1jr team came out strong on Saturday night and earned Hard Charger honors by way of a 10th place finish.

“Friday night was a tough one, but the guys gave me a great car for Saturday’s show and we made a little noise and earned Hard Charger honors,” Colby Copeland said.

Getting a big weekend underway, Copeland timed the Econo Lube –n- Tune & Brakes X1jr machine in 21st in time trials amongst the 41 cars that had checked into the pit area for the two-day program.

Finishing eighth in his heat race, Copeland would move into the ‘B’ Main where he would line up in the  ninth spot with the Top-Six finishers moving on to the feature event.

In what was a wild race Copeland would try everything to get into the top-six, but a seventh place finish would bring his night to an end as he sat 24th in points heading into Saturday night’s finale.

Finishing fifth in his first heat, Copeland would go from fourth to pick up the win in his second heat race which placed him the fourth row of the semi, and again needed to be inside the Top-Six to move into the 40-lap affair.

Picking up the necessary spots, Copeland would finish fourth and make the transfer into the 40-lap Nor-Cal Posse Shootout feature event where he would take the green flag from the 21st starting position.

On the slick surface, Copeland would take advantage of a pair of early stoppages and jump up to 15th in the early stages of the race. Continuing to be patient, Copeland would work into the 13th position just past the halfway points as he was in striking distance of a spot inside the Top-10.

Moving into 12th following the race’s final restart with eighth to go, Copeland would then take over 11th as he battled with Willie Croft for 10th. Copeland’s efforts would pay off as he grabbed the 10th spot coming to the checkered flag.

“It was pretty cool to be able to come forward like we did against the really tough cars,” Copeland said. “I have to thank these guys for never giving up, and looking forward to running this Econo Lube-n-Tune and Brakes machine at Trophy Cup.”

Copeland and F&F Racing would like to thank Econo Lube-n-Tune & Brakes, and CRV Carbon Solutions for their support in 2017.
