PETERSEN MEDIA- Reuniting with Tarlton Motorsports for the 2017 Trophy Cup, Carson Macedo would have a ton of speed, and actually land on the Thursday night podium, but a tough Saturday night feature event saw him finish 14th in the race and 12th in the points.

“We had a ton of speed, but unfortunately we came away with nothing to show for it,” Carson Macedo said. “Paul Baines and everyone associated with Tarlton Motorsports really gave me an awesome car, I just didn’t do a very good job in the Saturday night feature event.”

The festivities kicked off on Thursday night in Tulare, CA with a total of 90 cars checked into the pit area. Macedo got things off to a very nice start as he timed the Elite Landscape Construction/Tarlton and Son, Inc./Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino No. 21x timed in third fastest in qualifying time trials.

Working his way forward to fifth in his heat race, the Lemoore, CA racer would transfer directly into the 30-lap feature event where he would grid the field from the fourth starting position.

When the race came to life Macedo would settle into the third position as he chased after Tarlton Motorsports teammate, Jason Meyers, and Michael Kofoid. With Kofoid having misfortune of his own, Macedo would move into second and it was a Tarlton Motorsports affair up front.

On a tricky racing surface, Jason Solwold would get a good restart and get by both Macedo and Meyers as Macedo now ran in the third spot. Chasing after the two former full time World of Outlaws competitors, Macedo would close out the first night with a third place finish.

Sitting fourth in event points after the opener, Friday night would see the Canadian Nationals Champion would continue to showcase speed as he timed in fifth quickest in time trials on this night.

Finishing third in his heat race, Macedo would handle business and move into the feature event as the high point earner on this night and he would grid the field from the 12th starting position.

On an extremely rough and tumble Thunderbowl Raceway, Macedo was able to move forward early as he quickly worked into the Top-10. Macedo would continue to move forward as he would get up into the 7th spot late in the race. However, the rough conditions would get the best of Tarlton Motorsports as a muffler would break off the header and he would be disqualified on the 24th lap.

Heading into Saturday night sitting sixth in Trophy Cup points, Macedo would turn in an extremely strong run in his heat race that saw him come from the fourth row to finish third and jump up to a tie for second in points heading into the feature event.

When the race went green, an accident broke out in front of Macedo and he would get in on the action and take a trip to the work area. With his team working hard, he would make the call the restart from the tail end of the field.

On another fast track, passing would prove to be tough and on the 35th lap, Macedo would catch a rut and spin after working his way up to the 15th spot.

Going to the back again, Macedo would do a nice job of racing his way forward in the final 15 laps as he would finish 14th in the race and 12th overall in points.

“It was just a bummer to not be able to finish the job off for this entire team,” Macedo added. “Again, I really want to thank every at Tarlton Motorsports for allowing me to take part in another Trophy Cup.”

Tarlton Motorsports would like to thank Elite Landscape Construction, Tarlton and Son, Inc., Executive Auto Sales, Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino, Pabco Gypsum, Bandy and Associates, All Star Performance, and BG Lubricants for their support through the 2017 season.
