PETERSEN MEDIA: Making his first appearance at Petaluma Speedway after a couple year hiatus, Andy Gregg’s night would come to a rough ending as he flipped wildly down the front stretch during the Sprint Car Challenge Tour feature event.
“It was a tough ending to our night,” Andy Gregg said. “Luckily our safety gear did it’s job and I am okay, but it’s a bummer to tear up equipment.”
With 49 cars checked into Petaluma Speedway on a sunny and warm day in the bay area, Gregg timed his GUTS Racing/Angius and Terry LLP/Capitol Ace Hardware backed sprinter in sixth fastest in his qualifying group.
Gridding the field from the sixth starting position in his heat race, Gregg would take care of business as he would work his way into the fourth and final transfer spot and punch his ticket directly into the 40-lap ‘A’ Main event.
Finding himself in the 16th starting spot, Gregg would mash the throttle when the green lights flashed on as he would look to grab spots on the start of the race. Filtering out in the 14th spot, Gregg would try everything in his arsenal to get going forward on a very fast and rough speedway.
As the laps clicked down, Gregg pushed himself even harder as he looked to land in the Top-10. On the 37th lap however, Gregg pushed that limit a little too far as he would get his machine upside down in front of a capacity crowd. Climbing from the wreckage, Gregg’s night would come to an end.
“I kept pushing the limit trying to get more spots, and it ended up biting me with a couple laps to go,” Gregg said. “We will go to work and get it back together and get ready for the King of the West race at Placerville Speedway in a couple of weeks.”
Andy would like to thank GUTS, Angius and Terry LLP, Capitol ACE Hardware, Ice House Resort, CTL Forest Management, ARP Enterprises, Ervin Sales, Broadband Agreements, Russo Insurance, Kelly Moore Paints, Cal Pro Paint and Construction, Triple X, Wilwood, FK Shocks, FK Rod Ends, K&N, King Racing Products, BR Motorsports, Amerikote, Pony Express Service, and MF Inc. for their support in 2017.
ON TAP: Gregg will take this Saturday off due to a prior commitment, but will be in action on May 13th when the King of the West Series takes to Placerville Speedway.
