PETERSEN MEDIA- Andy Forsberg and F&F Racing made their reunion a special one. After announcing that they would reunite in 2018 over the winter, Forsberg and F&F Racing put together a magical season opening weekend that saw them sweep the Silver Cup as Forsberg claimed his 50th career win at Silver Dollar Speedway as he pocketed his first career Silver Cup.
“What a weekend,” Andy Forsberg said. “Friday night we were really good, and got the lead around lap 10 and never looked back. Saturday night, we were in the right place at the right time and it kind of fell into our lap, but we will definitely take it and enjoy it.”
Traveling to Silver Dollar Speedway to re-acclimate to each other before the Placerville Speedway Sprint Car Challenge Tour season openers later this month, Forsberg and F&F Racing got off to a great start as Forsberg kicked things off by timing the Econo Lube-N-Tune & Brakes/Geico Local Office/PitStopUSA backed No. x1 entry in second fastest in time trials.
Going from fourth to third in his heat race, the Auburn, CA pilot would advance into the redraw where the four pill placed him in the second row of the feature event. On the lightning fast quarter mile, the 2017 Civil War Series Champion proved to be in fine form early in the season as he raced his way into second, before making his move for the race lead on the 10th lap while in traffic.
On this night, nothing would stand between Forsberg and victory lane, as he was able to flex his muscle and score his first win of 2018.
Back in action on Saturday night, Forsberg and company would continue to show tremendous speed as he would time in second quick again putting himself in prime position for the rest of the night.
In a déjà vu type night, Forsberg would continue to mirror Friday performance as he would again finish third in his heat race before pulling the four pill.
On a slick and racy Silver Dollar Speedway surface, Forsberg would quickly jump into the third position, as he battled with the likes of Willie Croft, and Michael Kofoid at times.
Looking like he would close his Silver Cup out with a third place finish, Forsberg would take advantage of a miscue on the white flag lap as the leaders banged wheels and he moved into the second position.
Heading into turn three, the leader would get into trouble, and Forsberg would be there to pounce as he powered by to score the race win going from third to first on the final lap.
“I was lucky as heck on Saturday,” Forsberg said. “It doesn’t get any more lucky than that. I can’t thank all of these F&F Racing guys for their hard work this off-season, and for the chance to work with them again. What a great start to the year.”
F&F Racing and Andy Forsberg would like to thank Econo Lube-n-Tune and Brakes, Geico Local Office, PitStopUSA, Lucas Oil, Pacific Highway Rentals, Autism Awareness, FVP, and CRV Carbon Solutions for their support in 2018.
ON TAP: Forsberg and F&F Racing will return to action on Saturday March 24th in Placerville, CA for the Placerville Speedway season opener.
